Alto Imaging is transitioning to the PRP Diagnostic Imaging network 

PRP Diagnostic Imaging is pleased to confirm that Alto Imaging will transition to the PRP network on 4th May 2026.

This integration brings together practices, teams and systems to deliver a more connected diagnostic imaging experience across the Newcastle and Hunter region.  

PRP Diagnostic Imaging continues to provide state-of-the-art radiology, PET and nuclear medicine services across the region, supported by one of the largest networks of local radiologists in the Hunter. 

Patients now have expanded access to services including: 

  • CT  
  • MRI 
  • Ultrasound  
  • X-Ray 
  • Nuclear Medicine  
  • PET 
  • Interventional procedures and image-guided biopsies 
  • Women’s imaging – Mammograms, MRI Breast   
  • Cardiac imaging – Echocardiograms, Stress Echo, ECG, Calcium score 
  • Dental imaging – Cone beam and OPG 

Patients can now book at our 10 Hunter locations, providing faster access to appointments and imaging services.

Why have PRP Diagnostic Imaging and Alto Imaging come together?

PRP Diagnostic Imaging and Alto Imaging have merged to provide stronger and expanded radiology services for the Hunter Region. This new and larger PRP Hunter network improves patient access to imaging, offering the full suite of services, including MRI, CT, PET, Nuclear Medicine and Echo Ultrasound as well as many more.

Patients will benefit from having convenient access to more locations with PRP’s high-quality care provided across the entire Hunter Region. 

Will I still see the same staff in my local clinic, now that the name has changed?

Yes, you will continue to see the same Alto Imaging staff, including radiologists and clinical teams. PRP Diagnostic Imaging values the high level of care that Alto Imaging staff have provided and will continue to provide as PRP employees.  

Will anything change about my appointment or experience?

No. Following on from our systems integration on the 4th May, you will be able to use  MyPRP to access your images and reports taken from PRP clinics on your personal device. myPRP is a secure online portal where you can view and share your images and reports.  

You can use myPRP on your phone, tablet, or computer. myPRP is available as a desktop portal or mobile app downloaded via the Google Play or App Store. 

The former Alto Imaging site at Cessnock is already on MyPRP .

Can I go to any PRP Diagnostic Imaging or Alto Imaging site?

Yes. The former Alto Imaging sites will undergo a name change and a facelift throughout April and May 2026 and at completion, these clinics will look like the other PRP Diagnostic Imaging clinics in the Hunter region

Patients may attend any site that is most convenientbook online here.

Your images and reports will be accessible to your doctor regardless of where you are scanned. 

Will my out-of-pocket cost change?

Out-of-pocket costs can vary depending on several factors, including whether Medicare provides a rebate, if the scan is part of a funded screening program (such as the National Lung Cancer Screening Program), and any government concessions you may hold. 

The majority of scans performed across the region are bulk billed. If there are any out-of-pocket costs, we will inform you prior to your examination.

Will my doctor still receive my images and report?

Yes. Reports will continue to be delivered to your doctor via the same method they currently use. As PRP integrates systems, your doctor will benefit from improved access to images through PRP’s secure digital platforms.  For scans completed at our PRP clinics from 4 May 2026, you will be able to access your images via MyPRP.  myPRP is a secure online portal where you can view and share your images and reports.

How do I access my images and report?

When you visit a PRP practice, which includes the former Alto Imaging clinics after systems integration on 4 May 2026, you will be able to access your images and report via MyPRP.  myPRP is a secure online portal where you can view and share your images and reports.  

You can use myPRP on your phone, tablet, or computer. myPRP is available as a desktop portal or mobile app downloaded via the Google Play or App Store.

Is my doctor’s referral still valid under the new company name?

Yes, we accept all imaging referralsClick here to book online.   

What happens to my prior scans that were taken at Alto Imaging?

Your records are retained securely. Your scans and reports completed at the former Alto sites will be available for your health care provider to download through a referrer portal. We will start with recent scans and progressively add the remaining scans by July 2026. Your health care provider can contact us if there are any questions.  

For scans completed at our PRP clinics from 4 May 2026, you will be able to see and share them via MyPRP.  myPRP is a secure online portal where you can view and share your images and reports.

Are any locations closing?

All locations remain open. Alto Imaging practices at Glendale, Mayfield, East Maitland, Salamander Bay and Singleton will undergo a facelift and be branded as PRP practices throughout April and May 2026.
