Dr Scott Quadrelli

Credentials

B.Eng (Hons I), MBBS, PhD, FRANZCR

Dr. Scott Quadrelli, a native of Newcastle, has returned to his hometown after accruing rich experiences across Australia and internationally. Embarking on his academic path at the University of Newcastle with an Engineering Degree, Scott felt a deeper inclination towards medicine. This guided him to the University of Wollongong and further honed his foundational medical skills during his junior doctor years at John Hunter Hospital.

Choosing to specialise in Radiology led him to the corridors of the Princess Alexandra, Prince Charles, and Queensland Children’s Hospitals in Brisbane. Throughout his career, he has demonstrated a sincere commitment to cardiac imaging and interventional radiology, always prioritising patient care.

Research, for Scott, has been both a passion and a platform to contribute to the broader medical dialogue. Having earned his Ph.D. from the University of Newcastle, he’s currently engaged in post-doctoral collaborations with the University of Sydney and Professor Martin Ugander.

Among his many research contributions, some noteworthy papers include:

  • “Noninvasive Imaging Methods for Quantification of Pulmonary Edema and Congestion: A Systematic Review” published in JACC: Cardiovascular Imaging in 2023.
  • The well-received “Hitchhiker’s guide to voxel segmentation for partial volume correction of in vivo magnetic resonance spectroscopy” published in Magnetic Resonance Insights in 2016.
  • Not to mention, his deep dive into PTSD’s effect on the human brain through “Post-traumatic stress disorder affects fucose-α (1–2)-glycans in the human brain: preliminary findings of neuro deregulation using in vivo two-dimensional neuro MR spectroscopy” in Translational Psychiatry in 2019.
With a foot in both the realms of engineering and medicine, Dr. Quadrelli offers a unique lens to his practice. His understated dedication to his profession and consistent engagement in research undeniably make him a respected figure in Newcastle’s medical landscape.
