Dr Kushlan Aluwihare
MBBS BSc(med) FRANZCR
Kushlan graduated from the University of NSW and completed his radiology training at Concord Repatriation Hospital in Sydney. He undertook a fellowship in breast imaging at the Breast Cancer Institute, Westmead Hospital. Following this he completed a MRI fellowship at Flinders Medical Centre, Adelaide.
He has held VMO positions at BreastScreen NSW and BreastScreen SA. He has worked in private practice in Adelaide where he also held a staff specialist position at Flinders Medical Centre. Kushlan has a special interest in teaching and has held associate lecturer positions with the medical schools at the University of Sydney and University of Notre Dame.
Kushlan has a particular interest in breast imaging, MRI and general interventional procedures.
Dr Bill Barter
MB BS (Hons), FRANZCR
Bill joined PRP Imaging in 2002. He is a graduate of the University of Sydney, and received diagnostic radiology training at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. After group private practice in Burwood and Parramatta, Bill was in solo radiological practice in Armidale NSW for over 20 years.
His particular interests are in abdominal imaging, oncology and in the broad range of diagnostic ultrasound.
Dr Sonja Borsky
MB BS FRANZCR
Born in Prague, Sonja came to Australia at age 12. She studied medicine at UNSW and graduated with 2nd class honours. She trained in Radiology at Prince of Wales and at St Vincent's hospitals in Sydney.
A partnership with doctors Sewell, Wong and Duffy followed and then a merger with PRP Diagnostic Imaging Radiology in 1999.
Sonja has special interests in mammography and breast ultrasound as well as interventional work under ultrasound and CT.
Dr Stephen Cahill
MB BS FRANZCR
Stephen graduated from the University of Sydney with honours and trained in Radiology at Westmead Hospital, where he went on to become Director of Radiology during eight years as a staff radiologist.
Stephen has been extensively involved in teaching at many levels, has been an examiner for the RANZCR, served on multiple College bodies, and has been the Senior Radiologist for BreastScreen Sydney West for many years.
His special interests include breast imaging and procedures, oncology imaging, chest imaging and diagnostic procedures, musculoskeletal imaging and guided injections, and neurospinal and body MRI.
Dr Peter Carr
MB BS (Hons) FRANZCR
Peter graduated from the University of NSW and trained at Westmead Hospital. After eight years as Staff Specialist, including four years as Chairman of Division of Imaging, at Westmead Hospital, Peter joined PRP Diagnostic Imaging in 1996.
Peter is actively involved in teaching at all levels and is the inaugural Head of the Radiology Department of Sydney University.
Peter pursues his special interests in body imaging, oncology imaging, interventional radiology and dental radiology.
Dr Alan Chai
MB BS FRANZCR
Alan graduated from the University of Sydney with first class honours in 1997. He underwent radiology training at St George Hospital in Kogarah. A medallist in the final FRANZCR radiology exams in 2004, Alan then went on to complete an Interventional Radiology Fellowship (with MRI component) at Westmead Hospital.
Alan then joined a private practice in Sydney’s south which serviced multiple public hospitals, including St George, as well as being a VMO at Breastscreen South from 2007.
Alan joined PRP in 2012. He is a general radiologist with specialty interests including breast imaging and procedures, body imaging and oncology, neuroimaging, and intervention.
Dr Mark Chapman
MB BS FRANZCR
Mark graduated from the University of New South Wales with first class honours in 1990. He trained in radiology in Adelaide, being admitted to the RANZCR as a Fellow in 1998. He completed a Fellowship in Paediatric Imaging at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Adelaide, before moving on to become a partner at a medical imaging practice in Wollongong NSW. He served as Medical Director for this practice for four years.
Mark is a general radiologist with areas of special interest including paediatric radiology, guided joint injections and musculoskeletal MRI.
Dr Alan Gunn
MB BS BMedSc FRANZCR
Alan joined PRP Diagnostic Imaging in 1991. He graduated from the University of NSW in 1983 and trained in Radiology at Westmead Hospital.
Alan has been a previous Honorary Secretary of the NSW Branch of the RANZCR and was an RANZCR Federal Councillor in 1995. He has subspecialist interests in musculoskeletal and oncology imaging.
Alan is a member of the multidisciplinary Upper GIT/Pancreaticobiliary and Colorectal oncology teams based at RNSH and a member of the NSW Colorectal Oncology Group.
Alan has achieved specialist status for the Recognition of Training in CTCA and currently pursuing his interest in cardiac CT.
Dr Peter Ingle
MB BS BSc (Med) FRANZCR
Peter joined PRP Diagnostic Imaging in 1987. He trained at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital with post-graduate training in Neuroradiology and Interventional Radiology.
Peter was Involved in the start-up phase and early running of the Northern Sydney Breast Screen Service.
His current interests are MRI, Neuroradiology, Head and Neck and Oncology.
Dr Lawrence Josey
Bsc (Med) MB BS RANZCR
Lawrence graduated from the University of New South Wales and following training in emergency, surgery and general medicine at the John Hunter Hospital, Newcastle, continued his registrar training in diagnostic and inteventional radiology at the Royal Brisbane and Womens Hospital, Brisbane. Lawrence has completed a fellowship in Body, Musculoskeletal and Neurological MRI at the University of British Columbia, Canada with appointments at Vancouver General and British Columbia Cancer Center Hospitals. Following appointments at Breast screen QLD along with The Wesley and Caboolture hospitals Lawrence has returned to Newcastle to join PRP Diagnostic Imaging as an associate.
Lawrence is currently an associate lecturer at the University of QLD and a specialist MRI reviewer for the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiology. Specialty interests include body imaging and oncology, neuroimaging, and musculoskeletal imaging and intervention.
Dr Sean Khoury
MBBCh DABR FRANZCR
Sean joined PRP Diagnostic Imaging in 2001. He graduated from The University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa in 1992 and undertook his residency and radiology training in the USA at the Wake Forest University.
Sean continued at the hospital with a fellowship year in musculoskeletal imaging and cardiac MRI.
Sean's current special interests are in interventional radiology and MRI.
Dr Michael Lannan
MB BS FRANZCR
Michael joined PRP Diagnostic Imaging in 1996. He completed his post-graduate training in radiology at St Vincent's Hospital, Sydney.
Michael then completed a Neuro-radiology Fellowship at the University of Rochester, New York.
On his return to Australia, he was appointed as Staff Specialist Radiologist at Woden Valley Hospital, Canberra, further specialising in Interventional Radiology and helping to set up the new MR facility.
His special interests include interventional radiology and MR imaging.
Dr Carolyn Lewis
MB BS MRCP(UK) FRCR FRANZCR
Carolyn joined PRP Diagnostic Imaging in 1991. She trained in Internal Medicine and Cardiology in London before commencing Radiology training. She completed Radiology training at Kings College Hospital and St. Georges Hospital in London before moving to Sydney and joining PRP Diagnostic Imaging.
Carolyn's special interests include ultrasound imaging particularly obstetric, CT body imaging and CT/Ultrasound interventional work.
Dr John Lewis
MB BS FRANZCR
John originates from Sydney and has been part of the Newcastle community since 2000. He trained at one of NSW largest complexes comprising of the Prince of Wales, Royal Women's and Sydney Children's Hospital, subsequently completing a Fellowship in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) in 1998.
Johns training has provided him with valuable experience across a broad range of specialist radiology, with particular interests in musculoskeletal, neuroradiology and interventional procedures.
Dr Phil Lucas
MB BS FRANZCR
Phil joined PRP Diagnostic Imaging in 1998. Phil trained as an undergraduate at the University of Sydney with residency and radiology training at the Royal North Shore Hospital, Sydney.
He did a fellowship in musculoskeletal radiology at the University of Virginia, USA, 1996. Phil is Clinical Lecturer in Sports Medicine Imaging at the University of NSW, associate lecturer at Sydney University in Radiology and Honorary Radiologist for the NSW Waratahs Super 15 Rugby, Australian Rugby, Manly Sea Eagles & the Sydney Roosters Rugby League teams. He was Visiting Radiologist at the Sydney Olympics 2000.
Phil is an active member of the Australian Musculoskeletal Imaging group and a member of the North American society of skeletal radiology.
His special interests are in musculoskeletal ultrasound and MRI and image guided injections and procedures.
Dr John Makeham
B Med(Hons) PhD FRANZCR
John joined PRP in 2010. After completing a PhD in neuroanatomy and neurophysiology at the University of Sydney, he underwent radiology training at Royal North Shore Hospital. Following this, he completed an MRI fellowship at Westmead Hospital.
His special interests include neuroradiology / ENT, musculoskeletal and body MRI, and the minimally invasive management of spinal pain.
Dr Gordon Melville
MB BS FRANZCR
Gordon joined PRP Diagnostic Imaging in 1988. Gordon developed an interest in Paediatric and Interventional Radiology while training at Prince of Wales and Prince Henry Hospitals.
He pursued these interests in London at the Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children and The Royal Free Hospital. On his return to Australia, Gordon took up Staff Specialist positions at Prince of Wales and Prince Henry Hospitals.
Gordon's current interests are in mammography, vascular imaging and interventional radiology.
Dr Andrew Ong
MB BS FRANZCR
Andrew joined PRP Diagnostic Imaging in 2008. He graduated from Sydney University in 1999 and completed his residency training at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Sydney.
Andrew undertook radiology training at St George Hospital and completed his MRI training at Liverpool Hospital. Andrew's current interests are body imaging, MRI and interventional radiology.
Dr Richard Perry
MB BS (Hon) FRANZCR
Richard joined PRP Diagnostic Imaging in 2000. He graduated from the University of Sydney in 1983. Richard trained in radiology at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney and was elected to the fellowship in 1990.
He worked as a staff specialist at John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle and Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. He was Director of Radiology at RPAH from 1997 to 2000. Richard's principal areas of interest include Oncology Imaging, Neuroimaging, Head and Neck Imaging, and MR Imaging.
Richard is the Executive Manager for PRP's Public Hospital Appointments and Services.
Dr Alex Petersen

Alex joined PRP Diagnostic Imaging in 2007. Alex graduated from the University of NSW and undertook Radiology training at John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle.
He completed an MRI fellowship at Westmead Hospital. Alex previously worked as an associate/partner in a practice on the South coast of NSW for five years.
He is interested in all aspects of radiology especially MRI.
Dr Deepak Prasad
MB BS MRCP (UK) FRCR (UK)
Deepak graduated from the University of Mysore, India in 1999. Subsequently he moved to the UK and undertook specialist medical training in Aberdeen, Scotland, obtaining the Membership of the Royal College of Physicians of the UK.
He trained in radiology at Aberdeen, Scotland and achieved the Fellowship of the Royal College of Radiologists of the UK in 2008. He has undertaken a gastrointestinal radiology fellowship at University College Hospital, London and a one-year abdominal imaging fellowship at Leeds Teaching Hospitals. He then worked as a consultant abdominal radiologist at Bradford Teaching Hospitals from 2010 to 2012 and was affiliated with the Bradford Digestive Diseases Centre.
Deepak joined PRP in 2013 and currently lives in Bathurst, providing radiological services in the Bathurst and Orange practices.
His special interests include abdominal imaging (especially CT colonography and abdomino-pelvic MRI), oncology imaging, imaging-guided intervention and CTCA.
Dr Duncan Snodgrass
BSc (Med) MB BS FRANZCR
Duncan Joined PRP Diagnostic Imaging in 2003. He trained in Radiology primarily at Royal North Shore Hospital but also at Prince of Wales and Sydney Children's Hospitals.
His special interest areas are MRI Imaging and Body CT scanning, with special skills in Musculoskeletal and Oncology Imaging.
He also performs many minimally invasive interventional procedures including image guided injections and biopsies.
Dr Andrew Solomons
MB BS FRANZCR
Andrew joined PRP Diagnostic Imaging in 2005. He graduated from Sydney University in 1991. Andrew was the Acting Director of Mona Vale Hospital Emergency Department 1996-1997 prior to commencing radiology training in Melbourne at The Alfred Hospital.
Andrew worked in private practice becoming the Director of Mona Vale Hospital X-ray Department in 2007.
Interests include Interventional Radiology and Spinal Imaging.
